You know, it’s stories like this that make me glad we’ve pissed away our military power and political capital on a fool’s errand in the Middle East.

Imagine if you will, a new Cold War, one where our antagonist is not only bristling with atomic weaponry, but is also bankrolling our economy and providing us with all of our manufactured goods. Instead of doing something to avert such a disastrous strategic outcome, we've spent the last few years building sand castles in Iraq, in an effort to control the flow of a soon-to-be-obsolete energy resource.
