For the first time, more women than men in the United States received doctoral degrees last year, the culmination of decades of change in the status of women at colleges nationwide.The difference was slight: 50.4% of the doctoral recipients were women, while 49.6% were men. It's accurate that more women than men earned doctorates, but the real news is that women have at long last achieved parity.
