[Image Description: Two elephants wearing enormous pink tablecloths -- or maybe a vestment?-- flail in the air while a dark-skinned goateed man, clad in a pink-feathered turban and pink clothing, tries to escape. From a balconey in a building that looks like Late colonialist pastiche, a white moustached man in a red smoking jacket (SMOKING JACKET!) and a dark-haired white woman embrace (she is also wearing pink!) and look on. The comic book cover reads: "TRUE MONSTERS AND DEMONS! Even in death, demonic elephants trumpet rage at their tormentor!"]
From Ripley's Believe It Or Not, October 1971.
Although I have no idea what this story is about, I am truly mystified that I have yet to see an advertisement for a "Sexy Demonic Elephant" costume this Halloween.
