I find it a useful concept on an individual scale, because it's helpful to process feelings and define boundaries and especially assess physical and mental health by determining What's Normal for Me. But on a social scale, the concept of 'normal' is, at best, pretty useless and, at worst, a dangerous agent of othering and marginalization." And the puppy said, "That's a good point. Like, it's normal for me to want to sniff strangers' butts, but if you started doing that, it might be cause for concern." And Tom said, "Exactly."
