BOOM

[Content Note: Fat hatred; body policing.]

I don't know a whole lot about actress Jennifer Lawrence, even though I've seen a bunch of her films, but every time I see her in an interview or doing some promotional junk, she seems both clever and silly, which is pretty much my favorite combination in a human being. Exhibit A (please note there is a gif with flashing lights at this link). Exhibit B. Etc.

Anyway.

If you know anything about Jennifer Lawrence at all, if you've read one article about her, you probably already know that she gets called fat. Because the entertainment industry is full of body policing garbage nightmares. This is something she has had to address countless times already, and, in a recent interview, she addressed it once again:
"It was just the kind of shit that actresses have to go through. Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn't lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet."
Earlier this year, Lawrence won the Oscar for Best Actress.
"If anybody even tries to whisper the word 'diet,' I'm like, 'You can go fuck yourself,'" she said.

I love that. I love it so much.

And I also hate with the fiery passion of ten thousand suns that it takes winning an Oscar for an actress to have the clout to tell people to fuck off with their gross body policing, and actually have them (maybe) listen.

[Note: I am not saying that Jennifer Lawrence is perfect! I am sure she has all kinds of human flaws, like unexamined privilege or forgetting to put her stinky socks in the hamper! I am just saying she's PRETTY GREAT!]
