I am really tired of hearing, on any one of a number of consternating social issues in the US, that there are no perfect political solutions, as a justification for inaction. Or, worse, actively unhelpful or exacerbating action.
We don't need "perfect" solutions. We need humane ones.
And this incessant debate, such as it is, about balancing cost with decency is the reddest of all red herrings. There is nothing we can't afford to do in this country, when we really want to do it.
If we can find money to build tanks we don't even need, we can find money for people.
