WATCH: Pres. Obama on the 2016 race: "This is not a reality show." https://t.co/Dodn5MCexl
— ABC News Politics (@ABCPolitics) May 6, 2016
"And I speak to all of you in this room, as reporters, as well as the American public: I just want to emphasize the degree to which we are in serious times and this is a really serious job. This is not entertainment. This is not a reality show. This is a contest for the presidency of the United States."—President Obama, earlier today.
You will note that, although he mentions the public, he says very specifically that he is talking to the reporters in the room. He is quite clearly talking to the media, especially, about their coverage of this election.
And, right on cue, the paper of record misses (ahem) that he was talking to the media: "President Obama addressing Donald Trump's candidacy: 'This is not entertainment. This is not a reality show.'"
Yes. Donald Trump's candidacy. Sure. Which doesn't exist in a fucking vacuum.
