I'll update as more news becomes available.
UPDATE: This is the one thing that has always stood out in my memory about Robert Muller:
Interesting note about Mueller: When he was FBI Director, his notes of a meeting proved then-AG Gonzales a liar. https://t.co/BP8fO02u5q

Same sort of contemporaneous notes by an FBI Director that are now at issue re: Trump's obstruction of justice in Comey's notes.

I'm guessing DAG Rosenstein knows that, heh. I'm not saying it's *why* he chose Mueller, but it's a very interesting coincidence. (Or not.)

Suffice it to say, if the investigation expands to include obstruction of justice charges, Mueller will be very inclined to treat Comey's notes from his meeting with Trump as valid evidence.
UPDATE 2: Some further thoughts on Mueller:
It sure seems that way. Mueller's notes proved the then-AG perjured himself. Current AG is Rosenstein's boss. https://t.co/E4Ihucaxb5

Also reads a lot like a message to Trump: You didn't like being investigated by the FBI Director? How about a different one, then?
— Melissa McEwan (@Shakestweetz) May 17, 2017
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it sure *seems* like some A+ trolling by Rosenstein.

Whether any of this translates into Mueller doing an effective job as Special Counsel, I honestly have no idea. Only time will tell.

Also: It isn't just that Muller is the former FBI Director. He was James Comey's boss.
