Suggested by Shaker Suzy: "What was the best meal you've ever had at a restaurant?"
I once had dinner at Tom Colicchio's restaurant Craft in New York City, and it was an absolutely exquisite meal. Every single thing I ate was splendid, but the standout was the sweetbreads, which were just stunningly good.
When we were deciding on dessert, one of my dinner companions couldn't decide between two things, one of which was an order of mini-doughnuts, so she asked our waiter, who had been extremely helpful in assisting us make our selections all night, which he would choose, and he responded, "I would punch a baby for those doughnuts." So she got the doughnuts, lol. (They were indeed alarmingly delicious.)
I, meanwhile, couldn't decide between some chocolate dessert and the cucumber sorbet. The waiter told me both were excellent, and, after some more dithering, I went with the chocolate thing. The waiter ended up bringing me both, offering the cucumber sorbet gratis, just so I could try it. And thank Maude that he did, because I don't remember a damn thing about that chocolate dessert, but I still remember every scrumptious bite of that cucumber sorbet to this day!
